Main Activities
Networking
The RBPN aims to celebrate a cultural calendar of events throughout the
year in conjunction with local organisations. These events provide a forum
for all to gather, exchange views and share experiences. Another reason
for participating in calendar events is to educate young people and encourage
them to participate in the organising and running of the events.
Professional Development
The RBPN encourages it's members and other Bangladeshi's to continually
develop their skills by organising educational and development training
workshops, seminars and job fairs.
RBPN will continue to develop the mentoring training programme under the
guidance of Hopwood Hall College, and is committed to increasing the cultural
awareness of Bangladeshi's amongst the second generation and the wider
community.
Mentoring and Career Advice
RBPN will work with community organisations on projects to encourage
educational attainments within the Bangladeshi community in Rochdale.
Currently we are working with Hopwood Hall College to pilot the mentoring
programme for students from 13 years old. The main aims are to develop
self-confidence, broaden their horizons and provide study support for
exam
preparation etc.
Future Initiatives
RBPN is to develop an information database and website of Bangladeshi
professionals/organisations providing services to the Bangladeshi Community.
RBPN will continue to organise summer activities, day and residential
excursions for young people, along with international visits, such as
the
European Parliament and other educational places of interest.
